FRESH MEAT NUTRITION:

What is fresh dog food?

Why is fresh food healthier for your dog than dry food?

Your dog is a carnivore and prefers raw, fresh food

A dog belongs to the carnivores or meat eaters, and originally descended from the wolf. Wolves hunt in groups or solitary and eat their prey raw. Some dogs still look very much like the wolf, others not at all. Yet their instincts, claws, sharp canines and short smooth gut, still point to hunting prey and eating raw meat. While a long-snouted dog will hunt for prey hiding in burrows, the powerful jaws of, say, an Argentine Dog will grab the throats of pumas and wild boars.

Raw, fresh food is closest to prey food, contains vitamins, minerals and digestive enzymes, and is undeniably the best and most natural food you can give your dog.

What is dry food and how is it made?

In order to understand why fresh food is healthier for your dog than dry food or canned food, it is first necessary to clarify how dry food such as dog food originates and how it is produced.

The domestic dog used to serve as a watchdog for the family and livestock, pulling carts with heavy loads, and hunting game. Today the dog has mainly become a companion animal with a high cuddly factor. Where domestic dogs used to mainly live outside, the living environment of the dog has shifted to the living room, preferably in a warm basket in front of the fireplace. This shift gave rise to a new industry, namely the production of pet food for pets such as dogs and cats. It is therefore safe to say that the dry dog food was initially developed for the convenience and hygiene of humans, and not so much for the health of the dog. After all, dog food does not stick to the hands, keeps for a long time at room temperature and does not smell when left in a food bowl for several hours.

In order to obtain a dry dog food, meat remains are ground into a meat slurry, supplemented with proteins such as ground bone meal, chemical vitamins and minerals, fragrances, flavourings, colorings, preservatives, etc. This pulp is chemically and thermally processed and treated in order to extend the shelf life of the dog food. guarantee the end product.

Processing processes such as heating and drying at very high temperatures largely destroy the vitamins and minerals present as well as the necessary digestive enzymes. In addition, some producers do not always take the origin of the meat residues to be processed very closely.

Why is dry food not so healthy for your dog?

Adding chemical additives such as fragrances, flavors and coloring agents, preservatives, agents to stimulate or inhibit the absorption of moisture, etc. makes the digestion of dog food (or commercial and processed canned wet dog food) considerably more difficult. After all, this food is sterile, which means that its digestion releases a lot of waste in the body of your dog or cat. These pollutants find their way to outside through the internal organs, the fur, the ears, and may eventually be the cause of health problems.

If the cause is not tackled at the source, complaints can result in diseases. Your vet will undoubtedly tackle illnesses and complaints through the right medication. But why administer expensive and burdensome medication to your dog if the cause of the problem is not solved? Have you ever considered that your dog's health problems can be solved simply by switching your dog to a diet consisting of natural, raw fresh food?

What exactly is fresh dog food?

Fresh dog (or cat) food consists of fresh, raw meat derived from offal of animals suitable for human consumption (eg duck necks, undersized chickens with insufficient weight, etc.). The meat is ground, and immediately frozen. Fresh food is pure and unprocessed, does not contain any chemical additives, preservatives, flavors or colorings. So you can say that it is the most natural food you can give your dog.

Fiber, Calcium and Minerals.

However, feeding your dog raw meat is not enough. Because a wolf also gnaws on bones, and ingests plant remains by eating the stomach contents of the captured prey, our fresh dog food contains complete preparations in which carcasses, necks and organs are ground

We offer a very wide range of different animal species.

The ideal food for your dog consists of raw, fresh food supplemented with natural supplements and healthy snacks.

If your dog suffers from health problems such as gastrointestinal problems, diarrhea or constipation, overweight coat problems, etc., switching from dry kibble to fresh food can provide good to excellent results. This should always be built up gradually. To support the new diet, we advise you to work with additional natural food supplements such as probiotics, garlic granules, spirulina and chlorella, eggshell flour, magnesium, glucosamine, etc.

Since dogs like to chew on things, you will find a wide range of healthy dog snacks that can be given as a supplement to the fresh food you give your dog. They provide hours of gnawing pleasure and are a source of calcium, magnesium and essential fatty acids.

Raw meat benefits

What are the benefits of feeding raw meat to your dog?

Compared to thermally and chemically processed food such as canned food and kibble, raw meat has many advantages for your dog:

  • Where kibble and canned food is heated and therefore sterile, raw meat contains good bacteria that nourish your dog's intestinal flora and thereby strengthen the immune system

  • Raw meat leads to the production of more acidic stomach acid, eliminating parasites and bad bacteria • raw meat ensures better digestion and less waste resulting in less hair loss and a shiny coat, less flatulence and a less strongly odorous breath

  • Raw meat contains all essential digestive enzymes, which puts less strain on your dog's organs

  • Raw meat contains natural nutrients and no chemical additives (although our fresh food is 100% natural and free of additives.

  • Where with kibble and canned food the dog turd is often limp and voluminous and can also smell strongly, with raw meat everything is optimally digested, so that the dog turd is small and firm, quite dry and has a minimal odor

  • The digestion of fresh food ensures a firm (almost odorless) stool, so that anal gland problems occur much less than with the weak stool of chunk or canned food.

Does feeding raw meat to your dog also have drawbacks?

“Frozen fresh food is cumbersome”

Some dog owners find it a hassle to defrost the sausages/trays of frozen raw food. However, a can of dog food quickly becomes moldy and has a strong smell, where raw meat (just like you would go to the butcher for raw minced meat) gives little to no smell. Raw green tripe, on the other hand, has a strong odor. You may be less crazy about it, but your dog all the more! In addition, green tripe is recommended for dogs with digestive problems and dogs that are switching from industrial food to raw fresh meat for the first time. However, defrosting a sausage/tray of frozen fresh food is an act and a habit like any other. You defrost the sausage/tray in the refrigerator, and let it come to temperature the next day. Finished!

"Frozen fresh food is more expensive than dry food"

Contrary to what some dog owners think, fresh food is no more expensive than dry or canned food. You pay a price based on the weight, and sometimes also based on the type of meat. In addition, your dog is much less ill than if he were fed dry food for the rest of his life. The enzymes that are released during the digestion of raw meat ensure that the intestinal flora (and therefore the entire system) of your dog is in optimal health. So you save on veterinary costs and expensive medicines. This will not only make your dog happier, but also your wallet!

Switch to fresh meat

Does your dog suffer from digestive problems, such as stomach and intestinal complaints?

Dog owners often do not realize that the option exists to provide fresh food to your dog. Everyone knows kibble and canned food, but fresh? Until the dog has to deal with minor ailments, or major health problems. Very often the cause is due to digestive problems in the dog. After all, poor digestion creates a lot of waste products that eventually lead to ailments and diseases such as itching and hair loss, smelly breath, anal gland problems, stomach and intestinal complaints, kidney problems, ear infections, immune disorders, etc.

Sometimes the treatment consists of medication or of giving diet food. But as soon as you stop taking it, the symptoms return. Logical, because the source of the problem was not addressed. Medication often gives a lot of nasty side effects that do not make you and your dog happier.

If you want to tackle the digestive problems of your dog at the root, it is best to switch from industrial food such as kibble or canned food to ready-to-eat raw fresh meat food.

Switching to fresh is done step by step

It is best to gradually build up your dog's transition from kibble or canned food to fresh food. Because your dog has eaten sterile food for years, the intestinal tract does not yet have enough good intestinal bacteria to optimally digest raw and fresh meat. A healthy dog will be able to switch more quickly than a dog with digestive problems.

Dirty green tripe

This is built up by starting with feeding easily digestible green dirty tripe, whether or not immediately in combination with fresh raw meat. Dirty tripe is a true probiotic cure for your dog, and both a perfectly healthy dog, and a dog with existing complaints such as digestive problems, stomach and/or intestinal infections, etc., will love dirty tripe. Gradually mix the rumen more and more with solid raw food such as raw meat, poultry or fish, until your dog has completely switched to fresh.

Supplement and vary

Our fresh food contains a wide and diverse range of ready food from which you can choose. Necks also provide a good variety and also provide the necessary supply of calcium and other minerals.

Your dog's digestive problems will gradually diminish, as well as other ailments and health problems.

Also, give your dog a healthy dog snack to nibble on from time to time. This way you keep his teeth healthy and strong. Or support his digestion by adding natural supplements such as probiotics.
